Scuba Certification Scholarship Trip
2024 Application
Black Girl Blue Heart foundation is a mission to connect marginalized communities with the rich beauty of the ocean through scuba diving. This year we are partnering with Justice Outside to sponsor five people on a 5 day all-expenses paid trip to get scuba certified in the whimsical waters of Catalina Island, California. This will include: flights, hotel, food, transportation, PADI Open Water scuba certification, and a lifetime of adventure. For free.

Program Dates: October 24th - October 28th 2024
APPLICATION PROMPT: Upload a 1 minute video answering the question “Why do you want to scuba dive?”

APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
This round of the scholarship is designed to provide ocean accessibility for Black applicants
Must have basic swim skills. Confident & comfortable in water. Able to stay afloat on the surface
Must live in a land-locked US state: no ocean touching any boarder
Preference will be given to those in financial need. Use your judgement & be considerate as to whether or not you qualify.
Must be fully available to travel during the program dates
Must be over the age of 21 and in reasonably good health
The ocean brings me more joy than I can keep to myself and I want more people in my community to experience its liberating enchantment. This scholarship is a way to encourage more diversity and representation in the scuba diving world. The ocean is for everyone!
